Watford are hoping to convert Chelsea defender Nathan Ake’s loan move into a permanent deal this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Dutch starlet has been at Vicarage Road on a season-long loan and has impressed at left-back since ousting Greece international Jose Holebas.

Ake, aged 21, has 19 Premier League appearances to his name for the Hornets so far this term.

Manager Quique Sanchez Flores now hopes to keep him at the club full-time or, at the least, bring him back next season for another season-long loan.

The report suggests a bid of £3m should be enough to seal Ake’s signing from the Blues. He has been on the books at Stamford Bridge since 2011, when he joined from Feyenoord.

He signed a new long-term deal with Chelsea before signing for Watford last summer. Ake is highly-rated at the club and they are keen to keep him.

The young defender’s next move is likely to depend on what first-team opportunities are on offer at Stamford Bridge next season.
