Manchester United are targeting a deal to sign Hull City left-back Andy Robertson, according to The Sun.

The 22-year-old is being tracked by a host of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, the report claims. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is said to have the Scotland international on his radar ahead of this summer’s transfer activity.

But it is United who are apparently first in line to sign the young star. Manager Louis van Gaal will have £80m to spend if he keeps his job and is reportedly lining up Robertson to provide competition for Luke Shaw, who is due back from his broken leg soon.

Robertson had an impressive first season in the Premier League in 2014/15 after joining the Tigers from Dundee United in a £2.85m deal. But Steve Bruce’s side were relegated at the end of last season and Robertson has been plying his trade in the Championship this term.

That could change this summer.
