Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe have been released by West Bromwich Albion.

The pair were both out of contract this summer and the Baggies have released a statement confirmed their departures.

Midfielder James Morrison is also out of contract next month, but the club are in talks with the Scotland international over a new deal.

Sessegnon, aged 31, joined West Brom from Sunderland for a then club record fee of £5.5m in September 2013. The Benin international made 92 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals.

Nigeria international Anichebe, aged 28, joined in the same month as Sessegnon from Everton. He played 63 times for the Baggies and scored nine goals.

Three three-year contracts signed by both players when they joined are up at the end of next month.

Both players were signed towards the end of Steve Clarke’s tenure at the Hawthorns and had not featured regularly under current boss Tony Pulis.

Pulis said: “The two lads worked really hard for me and were as good as gold.

“Everybody at the club wishes them all the best in their future careers.”
