The matchup for the 2023 World Series is still undecided. Several more games have to be played in the ALCS and NLCS before we find out which teams will compete for the title. However, that doesn’t stop the best free betting apps from offering odds on which player will receive the Willie Mays World Series Most Valuable Player Award.

Making a futures bet, such as on which player will win the World Series MVP, offers more value the earlier the bet is made. So, let's examine a few players worthy of consideration.

Overview of MVP Trends

Several names have been floated around, and it's not difficult to identify the top candidates, considering allocated betting lines are a good sign. Yet, before examining the favorites for the MVP, it's worth pointing out that historically, 42% of recipients of the MVP award have been pitchers.

Outfielders and third basemen have had double-digit winners, while only one second baseman has won the MVP. Although, over the past two decades, pitchers have been out of favor with only four pitchers receiving a sufficient number of votes to claim the award.

Bruce Harper (+600)

The Phillies are favorites in their NLCS against the Diamondbacks, and Bruce Harper is one reason for Philadelphia's expected dominance. During the regular season, Harper hit 21 home runs with a .293 batting average and stole 11 bases.

Harper’s consistent performance continued in the postseason, where during the 6 games before the NLCA, Harper recorded 3 homers, and 5 RBIs with a batting average of .365. Bookmakers offer +850 odds for Harper to win the award, while his Phillies receive +205 odds to win the title.

57-

Corey Seager (+700)

The shortstop has been a crucial piece in the Rangers’ 2023 MLB season. Seager hit 33 home runs in the regular season, with a batting average of .327. Corey had 88 runs and 96 RBIs but was not an exceptional thief with only 2 stolen bases.

And the stats are only exploding in the playoffs, with a very high .429 batting average and 11 walks in his first five postseason games. Seager is getting on base on average on 2 out of every 3 plate appearances. To remind bettors, Seager already has an MVP award from the 2020 World Series, when he played for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Most free bets betting sites give Seager +950 odds to win the award, and the Rangers are the top team to win the World Series with +120 odds.

Trea Turner (+1400)

Turner is a versatile player, feeling comfortable at shortstop, second baseman, and center fielder. Trea is no stranger to the World Series, winning the title in 2019 with the Nationals. However, he doesn't have an MVP award, and as a member of the Phillies, Turner's chances are not that bad at +1400 odds to win the award.

During the regular season, Trea hit 25 home runs, had 102 runs, and 76 RBI with a batting average of .266, and stole 30 bases. The solid production continued in the postseason, where during 6 games, Turner scored 2 home runs, and 5 runs, plus stole 4 bases. However, his teammate Bruce Harper might be Turner's biggest obstacle for the award.
